How to search crime records

Our England & Wales, Crime, Prisons and Punishment records have revealed the prevalence of some of the most taboo crimes across the South East of England. Having analysed 44,000 historic court records, we've gained a unique insight into the types of crimes that were tried in court in areas of London and the surrounding counties between 1779 and 1935.

To search these records, if you go to 'Search' in the top navigation bar and select 'Institutions and Organisations' from the drop down menu. From here you can filter down the left hand side the category of records for example (Prison Registers or Courts and Legal)

Alternatively you can go to 'Search' again and then select 'A-Z of All Records' and from here you can search 'Crime' and view the individual record sets that we hold.
