How to trace Irish ancestors

You simply can't do Irish family history research without Findmypast. Not only do we have more Irish records than any other website, we also have exclusive collections you won't find elsewhere.

Tracing Irish family history can be difficult. To ensure you have the best chance of success you need as much information as possible about your immigrant ancestors before approaching the Irish records. You need to know their name(s), their date(s) of birth in Ireland, the names of siblings and/or parents, and most importantly where they came from.

To search these records, if you go to 'Search' in your main navigation bar and then selecting 'Search All Records' from the drop down menu. From this page you can then filter the search results by record type and place in the top left hand corner for example 'Irish' and 'Baptism'.
