Keighley and District Family History Society

Welcome to the Keighley and District Family History Society, in the County of West Yorkshire, England.

Created in 1986, we are a locally run society started by a small group of individuals within Keighley interested in researching family history. There was significant interest from the outlying districts and so the society gradually expanded and now covers quite a large area of the County of Yorkshire, especially North Yorkshire. This area can be seen in detail by visiting the page 'Area Covered' on our website.

We now have a wide network of members from all around the globe and communicate with them regularly via the journal, the internet and the exchange journals we receive from other societies.

An interesting and informative journal is published and posted to all members every quarter - February, May, August and November. The list of publications available for sale is regularly updated. A copy is issued with the journal or is available from our publications officer. Members' interest books are published yearly and supplied to each member. We also stock books for sale by other authors.

Monthly meetings are held from 7pm to 9pm on the first Monday of the calendar month (excluding Bank Holidays in which case the meeting is held on the second Monday). Our venue is the newly refurbished Local Studies Library (former Reference Library) at the Keighley Public Library which is located in North Street, Keighley. Visitors are most welcome to attend.

We are a member of the Federation of Family History Societies, being willing to promote their aims and help and encourage those who share the same interests as we do. We hope you will find whatever information you require and also take advantage of the friendship we offer.

Keighley and District Family History Society contributed to the National Burial Index. These records are available as part of the Findmypast Plus or Pro subscription.
