Electoral Rolls
Records in this collection
Looking to trace living relatives from your family tree? Then you'll be pleased to know that searching the UK electoral registers is one of the easiest ways to do that - if you know the name of the person you're looking for, of course.
The easiest way to trace your family tree is by working backwards. Once you believe you have identified a relative you are then able to verify this by birth records, and then working back via the parents' details and so on. You will also have gained a location to aid your search, if you didn't have that already.
Historical electoral registers can usually be found at the record office of main public library for the area.
