Isle of Axholme Family History

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Isle of Axholme Family History Society.

Isle of Axholme Family History Society was formed by local enthusiasts in 1987 to cover family history interests in the 13 parishes of the Isle of Axholme in the north western corner of the county of Lincolnshire and separated from the rest of the county by the River Trent which forms its eastern boundary. To the north and west it is separated from Yorkshire by the Old River Don, whilst its southern border with Nottinghamshire is defined by the River Idle.

The Society has a membership of approximately 320 and holds regular meetings at Epworth, where members can hear a variety of speakers, seek advice, and meet like-minded people. The quarterly journal “Islonian” provides items of local interest, general genealogical information, events and activities of the society, and an opportunity to publish their personal family history interests.
