Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies

We are working with Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS) to bring you closer to your Hertfordshire ancestors. HALS is the principal archive repository within Hertfordshire. Over 3 million documents from 1060 to the present day are stored on five miles of shelving at County Hall in Hertford.

As well as the ecclesiastical records we are able to showcase on Findmypast in partnership with HALS, the office preserves original documents covering many aspects of life in the county, including the environment, businesses, institutions and societies.

Among these can be found title deeds, minute books, letters and diaries, manorial documents, financial records, maps, plans and photographs. HALS is an incredible resource for anyone researching their history in the Hertfordshire area.
