West Middlesex Family History Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the West Middlesex Family History Society.

West Middlesex Family History Society was formed in 1978 to cover family history interests in the county of Middlesex, in the area of London west from Kensington to Uxbridge and south to Shepperton, and has a membership of some 600.

The Society holds regular monthly meetings at Hounslow, at which members can hear a variety of speakers, seek advice, and meet like-minded people. They also provide an opportunity to view the collection of research material, parish record indexes, CDs and microfiche.

Delve into this collection of Middlesex Poor Law Records where you can browse the records of 10 parishes in the west of the ancient county of Middlesex. The majority of records relate to the Poor Law process of determining where a person rightfully belonged and, by extension, which parish was responsible for providing for them.

This collection includes records of examinations, removals, settlements and bastardy bonds.

Protestation Returns, 1641-1642

The West Middlesex Family History Society have also made contributions to our collection of Protestation Returns. This collection allows you to discover whether your ancestor took the oath of allegiance to the Protestant religion as well as where your ancestor lived.

These records are an important resource for local historians for estimating populations, to genealogists trying to find an ancestor immediately before the English Civil War and for scholars interested in surname distributions.

Middlesex War Memorials

Is your ancestor commemorated on a war memorial in Middlesex? This collection of war memorials contains names from the Napoleonic War through to the Korean War from over 40 parishes in Middlesex.

You will also find the names of at least 130 women who participated in the First and Second World Wars included in this collection.
