Government Gazettes are a unique and useful genealogy for social historians, as well as those searching their family history or building a family tree. They were published by governments and their agencies as a means of communication to officials and to the general public. Gazettes therefore contain a range of valuable and interesting content such as the following list of information:
- Acts of Parliament
- government appointments, resignations and transfers, including: Justices of the Peace and returning officers
- government departments
- insolvents
- land acquisitions, rentals, sales and leases
- mining and minerals
- petitions
Included in this collection are all years between 1907 and 1919, except 1917 and 1918.
