A fascinating and thought-provoking collection of reports by the London Fire Brigade covering air raids on London between 1915 and 1918. Thankfully, some bombs missed their targets: "Some shrubs damaged by fire in yard at the rear of the premises" whilst others had a devastating impact: "H. T. Good, aged 49 years, and Carolina Good, aged 47 years, burned to death". These are transcriptions painstakingly copied from the original reports.

Some of these reports are very detailed indeed. John Foot and Sons, invalid carriage makers located at King Henry's Walk, Islington were hit by an incendiary bomb at 11.19pm on the 31st May 1915. Damage was reported as, "A back building of four floors about 120' x 50' (used as workshops, offices and store). About 1/3rd of the third floor and contents damaged by fire, rest of floors and contents slightly by heat, smoke and water, ceilings and contents under by water." There were no human casualties. This was the 24th bomb registered during this particular raid.
