There are over 620,000 funeral records in this collection. Each record includes a transcript that will provide a combination of the following fields:

• Full name
• Description – may include a variety of details including titles, relationships, and gender
• Gender
• Age
• Birth year
• Death year
• Death date
• Place
• State
• Country
• Notes – Notes may include information about the deceased’s alias or ethnicity (e.g. South Sea Islander, Aboriginal, ‘Kanaka’ – term used for Pacific Islander workers employed in British colonies during the 19th and 20th centuries)
• Call number
• Entry number
• Record source
• Source description – This provides additional information regarding the record source.

Digitized from the original records held at the Genealogical Society of Queensland Brisbane, this database includes indexes from records of memorial inscriptions from many Queensland cemeteries and lone graves (people who were buried on private property). Additionally, there are indexes to records from Queensland funeral directors: Metropolitan, Lorisch, Alex Gow, S R Le Grand, K M Smith, Cannon & Cripps, Tucker, Nankivel, John Hislop, and Funerals of Distinction. The total time frame covered in this collection is 1820 to 1999, however, not all years are covered for all funeral directors or cemeteries.
