Furness


Furness is a region in South Cumbria, England. The name originally referred to the peninsula on the Irish Sea, but Furness now includes the whole of North Lonsdale. The town of Barrow-in-Furness is the largest in the region. These records include the counties of Cumberland and Lancashire. The children’s author Beatrix Potter, creator of Peter Rabbit, was one of the largest landowners in High Furness in the early years of the 20th century.
