These records are brought to you thanks to the brilliant work of Louise Cocker, who has documented burials and memorial inscriptions in cemeteries and burial grounds across many countries including England, Germany, Cyprus, Italy and Greece.
This collection documents burials in the Old Garrison Cemetery in Berlin, Germany. The Old Garrison Cemetery which is nestled in the heart of the city is one of the oldest cemeteries in Berlin and was founded around 1706. The cemetery was originally primarily reserved for the burials of military personnel, however, it expanded over the years to include the burial of civilians.
The cemetery is now a protected cultural heritage site and many of the grave monuments provide examples of iron-cast grave art from 19th century Berlin.
