Story 86

My father served in the 1/54th Battalion in France and was badly wounded at Bullecourt. He lost an arm and received a machine gun burst in the stomach.

Some years after returning home he was declared a T.P.I. or otherwise a Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Ex Serviceman.

He spent most of his life in and out of hospital and was never able to do any other work than as a messenger for the Sydney Water Board or as a lift driver for the Grace Building in Sydney.

He died before he was 60 as a result of his wounds and in those days nobody cared.
