North Cheshire Family History Society was begun in 1975 to cover family history interests in the north east part of this large county.

Regular meetings are held at Hazel Grove and Sale for the benefit of the Society’s 700 members and anyone else interested in local history and genealogy. The Society holds research meetings for members at which advice and use of its resources are available. There is also internet access at Sale during these meetings. The library is kept at Hazel Grove and contains much Cheshire material.

A monthly Help Desk is held at Stockport Local Heritage Library for the benefit of members and the public. For those further afield, the quarterly journal “North Cheshire Family Historian” keeps members in contact with the activities of the Society, articles pertaining to the area, and an opportunity to publish their family history interests. These are also listed on the excellent website at www.ncfhs.org.uk, where there this a wealth of information about the Society, its publications (only on microfiche) of local records, and details of searches of the Society’s databases. Here too information will be found on events and how to join the Society.

North Cheshire FHS is a registered charity (no 1038959) and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and the North West Regional Group of Family History Societies
