Cambridgeshire Family History Society was formed in 1976 and exists to encourage the study of family history within the old counties of Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Ely. It not only provides a friendly point of contact for people world-wide who are interested in the same surnames and families, but also offers a wide range of facilities to support their research into genealogy and the local area. It has a membership of approximately 1,800.
The society holds regular meetings in Cambridge City, Cambridge Girton and March where members can hear a variety of speakers, seek advice, and meet likeminded people. The quarterly journal The Cambs FHS Journl, enables members at home and further afield to enjoy general articles on family and local history, general genealogical information, events and activities of the society, and an opportunity to publish personal family history interests. Similar information is also found on the website at www.cfhs.org.uk including details of their own publications of local records, research services, members interests and how to join the society.
Cambridgeshire FHS is a registered charity (no 1278815), and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.
