Find your ancestors in Estate Commissioners Offices, Applications from Evicted Tenants, 1907

This unusual publication was issued in 1907 by the Estates Commissioners' Office and listed persons who had submitted applications with them as an evicted tenant, or representative of an evicted tenant. This information was compiled as required by the Evicted Tenants (Ireland) Act 1907 which sought to provide some relief for those affected.

For each person the publication records:

    • name
    • address
    • estate from which evicted
    • townland address of the evictee
    • rent per annum paid prior to eviction
    • extent of the evictee's former landholding
    • name of the occupier at the time of the application
    • circumstances of the applicant
    • additional observations

It is the information recorded in the “circumstances of the applicant” which is often the most important, including notification of emigration, dependents and living conditions.
