Birth, marriage and death records (known in the world of genealogy as BMDs) are valuable markers to piecing together your family history. They provide those essential foundations, covering the important events in your ancestors’ lives. Learning where your ancestors were born, married and died can be very helpful on your family history search. With over 760,000 Australian records spanning the 1800 and 1900s, our BDM records are a crucial stepping stone in your journey into the past.

The Rookwood Cemetery records contain 243,000 transcriptions of headstones in Rookwood Cemetery. They were painstakingly transcribed between 1981 and 1992 by members of the Society of Australian Genealogists and are a really valuable resource.

The Cemetery Burials and Memorial Inscriptions for Victoria records cover 1835-1997 and comprise over 185,000 records. The records were built from transcriptions of cemetery memorials and burial registers and cover 197 cemeteries in Victoria, plus a few in other Australian states. It details the name and title of the deceased, the Australian state or territory, the year of the event, and the cemetery. Some names listed are from associated sources and are not necessarily the death or burial of the individual.
