Founded in 1977, Sheffield & District Family History Society is a well established society with a membership of more than 1,000 scattered across the world. The society’s focus is the area that lies within the boundaries of the modern Metropolitan Borough of the City of Sheffield, built across the Pennine foothills in South Yorkshire. The quarterly journal ‘The Flowing Stream’ contains members’ articles, news and information about genealogy, events and the activities of the society. New members’ family history research interests are listed in the journal and may also be found on the very informative website.
