Kent Family History Society

Established in 1974, Kent Family History Society is one of the oldest family history societies in England, with more than 4,000 members. The region of interest that it covers is the east and west area of the county of Kent in southern England.

Regular meetings, which are open to non-members, take place at Ashford, Canterbury, Deal, Maidstone, Strood and Birchington. The quarterly publication “The Kent FHS Journal” enables members at home and further afield to enjoy general articles on family history, learn more about the area of their ancestors, and be kept up to date with events and all the services that the Society offers. Members’ interests are available (to members only) via the website, which also contains details of the society’s activities and its large range of publications. The Society has one of the largest collections of transcribed records on microfiche and CD, with over 2,000 on microfiche and 16 CDs. Project work to transcribe parish records continues.

Kent Family History Society is a data provider for the Federation of Family History Societies.

Kent Family History Society contributed to the National Burial Index For England & Wales. These records are available on Findmypast as part of the Britain and World subscriptions.
